Each year the Messmore Montessori Association fundraises with the goal to provide funding for events, school materials, and student group activities.
This was the first year that we were not able to fully fund the requests we received due to low participation in the fall Entertainment Book fundraiser. Many parents stated that they did not want the hassle of a fundraiser, or more succinctly asked “Can I just write a check and be done with it?” The answer is yes.
Our goal for the 2017-18 school year is be fundraiser-free. We researched other public, private, and parochial schools around the area and many have similar philosophies regarding abandoning sales-driven fundraisers. In turn, schools have adopted a direct solicitation model with a minimum suggested donation. We all know that the education and opportunities at Messmore for our students are exceptional. In order to continue to provide the support to the school and augment funding from the district for the activities that are above and beyond at Messmore, we need your help.
The suggested minimum donation is $100 per family. We have a very generous community and all donations are appreciated. If the family donation is greater than $150, you will receive free admission to MMA events held at Messmore during the school year. (Certain activities such as the Daddy/Daughter dance will continue to sell tickets.)
Please note the following when considering your donation:
|•100% of the money raised is used at the school.||• Montessori learning materials are very expensive and Messmore does not receive additional budget amounts for those items.|
|•The MMA is a 501(c)(3) organization and we can issue you a receipt.||• We need to keep the excellence of education for our children.|
|•Sales-driven fundraisers have costly overhead expenses.||• If we are not successful in our drive, we will need to do additional fundraisers during the school year|
|•All expenditures are open for your review.|
